Britni Spring is the toned body behind the Instagram @blspringfit

On her page, she promotes not only physical fitness, but also self love; and shares every other aspect of her life, too. She believes that as a creator, she shouldn’t have to hold back parts of her life that she wants to share just because it might not fit on the typical #fitspo page.

What are the first 3 things you do when you wake up?

The first thing I do when I wake up is kiss my boyfriend goodbye before he leaves for work (because he never leaves without waking my sleepy butt for a kiss). Then I jump out of bed to brush my teeth; there is seriously nothing I hate more than that gross feeling in my mouth. And after that, I rummage through my stacks of laundry to pick out something to wear. Which is pretty easy, considering chances are it’s the same kick-ass outfit I’ve been strutting around in all week!

If you could take one person with you anywhere, who would that be? Where would you go?

If I could take one person with me anywhere, it would be my Nan and I would take her to Italy. Her parents came over from Sicily before she was born, and she’s never had the chance to see where they’re from. She’s always talking about the stories my great-grandparents told of their beautiful homeland. We’re trying to plan a trip over, just her, my mother, and I. It would truly be my dream trip.

What accounts do you follow for personal inspiration and what about them inspires you?

I’m most inspired by the women I follow who are like ME-who started fitness pages to keep themselves accountable and to share what they know with whoever’s listening! I support the girls who raise each other up, who take the time to message each other, help each other, and GROW with one another. Those are the accounts that inspire me-the real people who I can relate to.

What message do you want to convey to your followers?

I want my followers to know that we don’t have a universal mold that we all need to fit in to, we’re all different, and that’s what makes us amazing. We as humans have so much depth; and sometimes it’s hard to portray that on social media because it can feel so superficial at times. I want to inspire my followers to use their platform to help others-to express THEMSELVES while making a difference in someone else’s life.

Do you feel that content creators on social media are misrepresented or misunderstood?

I absolutely think they are-but primarily by the people who do not fully understand the business potential social media truly possesses. I am constantly on Instagram because I’m building my own brand and representing brands that I work with… to make money. I am constantly engaging and building relationships to grow my influence… to increase my value to potential collaborators. I am constantly texting all of my online-coaching clients… to make a steady income. All of these things require me to understand social media as an entrepreneur, and how my business relates to those who view the platform as a pastime. I’m always thinking of how I can promote my brand and expand my reach. For those of us who aren’t using social media as a business tool, it’s hard to imagine that it is one.

So far, what is the best experience you’ve had working with a brand?

The apparel brand I work with, @TilYouCollapse, is a brand that I owe a lot of my online success to. I consider the CEO, Brian, a great friend of mine because he saw something in me when I was just starting out. I posted a review of their leggings when I was struggling to find a direction for my brand, and Brian reached out to me to represent the clothing line as an athlete who wears the products.

Being given that chance gave me a huge sense of responsibility to expand my reach. I felt like I needed to work my butt off to make him and the company proud. This gave me the confidence to see that, when it comes to content, QUALITY over QUANTITY rules. It proved to me that not all companies out there are after influencers with millions of followers. There are tons of brands out there that want to work with smaller influencers that have a closer relationship to their followers, because they see the value of pages like mine. Working with Til You Collapse has proved to me that what matters most is what you say, how you say it, and how you influence others, no matter how many people you reach.

How do you think social media can elevate humanity?

I believe that using your platform to spread any positive message is a way to elevate humanity. No matter what that message is-someone out there needs to hear it, and social media is a powerful way to deliver it to them. Within the fitness Instagram community, my fellow creators and I are promoting mental and physical strength, self love, body positivity, and so much more!

As social media continues to grow, what do you think the biggest challenge content creators will begin to face?

I think that the biggest challenge content creators will face as social media grows is trying to compete with sponsored posts. As social media becomes more popular, some companies are skipping us content creators altogether, and purchasing sponsored ads right from the platform. It can be hard for content creators like me to compete with large scale ad campaigns, but all I can do is promote the fact that my audience trusts my message, and sponsored posts just don’t have that level of respect. I think it is extremely important to our survival to be as open, honest, and relatable as possible when creating content for a brand on social media. That’s what us content creators have over sponsored posts, and we can’t forget that.
