The Art of the Savor: Ocean Drive’s New Culinary Canvas
Miami Beach has always been a masterclass in sensory overload, where the pastel geometry of the 1930s meets the rhythmic pulse of the Atlantic. But this January, the experience transcends the visual. The Ocean Drive Association (ODA) and the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) have unveiled their latest masterpiece: An Art Deco Taste of Ocean Drive.
Running from January 9–11, this inaugural culinary series is the crown jewel of the 2026 Art Deco Weekend. It’s a curated invitation to step off the sidewalk and into the historic dining rooms that define the district’s silhouette.
A Prix-Fixe Palette
In a move that feels both elevated and refreshingly approachable, over 30 participating restaurants are offering exclusive menus designed to be enjoyed between architectural tours and jazz performances. The pricing is as structured as a Streamline Moderne facade:
-
Lunch: $35
-
Dinner: $45
From the refined elegance of LT South Beach at The Betsy and A Fish Called Avalon to the storied nostalgia of News Café, the series highlights the global flavors that make Miami a perennial muse.
Designing the Experience
True to the spirit of the weekend’s theme, “Celebrating Air, Land & Sea,” the activation pays homage to the 1920s and ’30s travel innovations that brought Art Deco to Florida’s shores.
To bridge the gap between historic preservation and modern luxury, the ODA partnered with Hue, a local creative agency, to develop a mobile-friendly digital companion. Designed to function like a native app without the clutter of a download, it allows guests to browse menus with the same ease as strolling past the neon lights of the Clevelander.
“Our new culinary program adds another exciting layer to Art Deco Weekend,” notes Ceci Velasco, executive director of the ODA. “We invite guests to sit down, savor the flavors, and truly experience all that Ocean Drive has to offer.”
Where to Dine: The Curated List
The lineup reads like a “Who’s Who” of the beachfront, featuring a blend of fine dining and casual icons:
-
The Sophisticates: Meet Dalia, Il Bolognese, and J’Adore.
-
The Classics: Mango’s Tropical Café, Havana 1957, and The Palace.
-
The New Guard: Alma Cuban, Ciao Mare, and La Canita.
For those looking to immerse themselves in the “heritage of the hustle,” this weekend offers a rare chance to see Ocean Drive not just as a postcard, but as a living, breathing, and—most importantly—delicious cultural landmark.
