This week we spoke with the Director and Founder of Underscore, a social media content company.

 How  did you get started?

I’ve been directing content since I could hold a camera. Underscore became a reality when college was no longer challenging me enough and I wanted to directly pursue my career.

What has been the most challenging moment in your career?

Every day is the most challenging moment as a company owner & freelancer when you’re hunting for your own food.

What was the most braggable moment?

We recently wrapped production on our own digital series with Project Greenlight which I co—direct & co-star in with WM Bradley, my friend & business partner.

What would you say is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is my strive for perfection. Nothing is ever perfect, it’s just elongating the creative process.

 And your greatest strength?

My greatest strength, in my opinion, is my leadership. That’s why I’m a director. I love leading the community of creatives to contribute their thing to the mosaic.

What was the greatest lesson you’ve learned from a mistake?

I gave my blind faith to a client with no paperwork and they screwed us over in the end.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love everything about directing. Being on set is the happiest place on earth. Second is Disney.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece I ever received is Steve Jobs “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish.”

 How do you define happiness?

Happiness is being proud of this exact moment in time, it is warmth that fills you up.

What book are you currently reading?

The Way You Wear Your Hat. It’s a collection of vignette stories about Frank Sinatra’s life. Also, To Pixar and Beyond, I’ve read everything about Pixar & Steve Jobs.

What’s a personal habit that you believe contributes to your success?

I practice positivity every day. It’s changed my way of being.

Have you collaborated with another business/artist in the past? (if yes tell us how it benefited you, if no tell us how you would like to)

I’m always collaborating with artists, it’s one of the greatest things about my job. You take two independently talented artists and let them share a canvas. Something new is always born.
