Miami is one of the most fashionable cities in the world, so naturally, we had to reach out to one of its top fashion bloggers. Bianka Walker of @thebiankastyle gives her followers lots of terrific fashion ideas with her stylish photos. Read on to get to know more about this Miami fashionista, what inspires her, and her best insights on influencer content marketing.

How long have you been actively creating content?

I have been actively creating content since I started this. At the beginning, it was me sharing pictures but then I realized this was my passion and I was actually on my way to making this my business. I started working with brands I think around 6 months after I opened my IG page.

Where are you originally from?

I’m originally from Ecuador. I’ve been moving back and forth since I was 16. This last time has been 3 years and I love it. I won’t be moving any time soon.

Where do you usually take visiting friends?

I love food. The first thing I do is take them to eat at my favorite places. They usually come for shopping so we don’t have much time, but we go out at night.

What are some of your favorite local brands/businesses that you worked with?

I love working with local brands. I work with tons of jewelry and accessories brands. They’re SO talented!  Some of them include Cara O Sello, Arancia, Kabuki and many more.

How can local businesses gain more exposure on social media?

Work with influencers! We’ve worked hard to have our audience. I think one of the most important things a business needs to invest in is working with us! We have the tools and experience to create content for them. Especially if a local clothing brand teams up with fashion bloggers – Magic happens.

Tell us your biggest challenge as a content creator

Trying to make brands understand that the FOLLOWER count is just a number. I have so many examples of fashion bloggers and bloggers in general that have so many followers but their engagement is so bad. Also, trying to educate brands that our work is not free!

How can content creators better engage their audience?

I think that creating good content is the best tool to have good engagement. I also engage with other people by liking and commenting on pictures that I actually like. Also, BE YOURSELF! It is the most important thing. Try to create content that your followers will actually identify with. Do it for the right reasons.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

I have many people that inspire me daily to work hard. Many of them are fellow fashion bloggers that work so hard and achieve their dream campaigns. The sky is the limit. The best part about this job is that you are in control of what you want to do. The more you work the more campaigns you will have and are more likely to be approached by favorite brands.

Now, tell us your strongest skill

I think that learning from other people instead of seeing them as competition is a very important skill to have. Asking for help when I need it, instead of being proud and doing it by myself. I am not afraid or ashamed to ask for advice from people that already did what I am currently doing.

What book are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Girl, Wash Your Face! by Rachel Hollis. It’s so helpful! She is a content creator, mom, and author. It’s a self-help book that, at least for me, has changed the way I look at life while doing this.

What equipment do you use?

I usually work with my phone. When I take professional pictures my photographer brings her camera (to be honest, I have NO idea which one it is). I also have my ring light to work in my house. I have a Nikon that I use when I create content in-house. To be honest, my main equipment is my phone.
