In a celebration of color, narrative, and cultural reflection, VISU Contemporary proudly announces its latest exhibition, “DAVID LACHAPELLE: HAPPY TOGETHER,” featuring the extraordinary works of internationally acclaimed photographer David LaChapelle. Curated by VISU Contemporary gallery owners Bruce Halpryn and Blake Pearson, this captivating collection will be on display from January 26 to March 2, 2024, at the gallery’s Miami Beach location.

The exhibition spans LaChapelle’s illustrious career from 1985 to the present, showcasing over 30 significant photographs, including the premiere of his latest creation. The collection is a mesmerizing journey through the artist’s evolution, offering a glimpse into the diverse themes and narratives that have defined his groundbreaking work.

Highlights of the exhibition include early masterpieces such as “Archangel Uriel” (1985), where a stoic cherub oversees a vast forest, and the iconic “My Own Marilyn” (2002), featuring Amanda Lepore in a nod to Warhol’s timeless Shot Sage Blue. LaChapelle’s ability to intertwine human survival with nature is poignantly displayed in “After the Deluge: Museum” (2007), while “Spree” (2019-2020) captures the frozen grandeur of a mega cruise ship in an icy expanse inspired by Shackleton’s Trans-Antarctic Expedition.

Among the many captivating works, “Three Graces (male)” (2023), inspired by Raphael’s masterpiece, stands out as LaChapelle’s latest creation. This piece, along with the entire exhibition, invites viewers to explore the artist’s unique perspective and imaginative storytelling.

Bruce Halpryn, co-owner and co-curator of VISU Contemporary, expressed excitement about LaChapelle’s debut solo exhibition in Miami Beach. “This curation reveals an exciting range of themes while highlighting the artist’s distinct ability to create thought-provoking narratives. Many of the iconic works on view have become a mirror of the time we live in, while also providing a glimpse into the future.”

To mark the occasion, David LaChapelle will attend the exhibition opening on January 26 from 7-9 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with the artist and witness the unveiling of this exceptional collection. For additional information, visit www.visugallery.com.
