Creator Spotlight: Kailey Dickerson
Kailey Dickerson @kaileydickerson and her husband, country music star Russell Dickerson, spend most of their time together on tour busses with bands like Darius Rucker, but that’s not anything Kailey’s not used to. ARTRPRNR asked her about life on the road, and how she manages to stick to a non-routine for so long. Here’s what she told us:
What are the first three things you do in the morning?
I’m not great at routines, but in my crazy world I find myself checking my Maps App in the morning to see where I am on the globe. After I kiss my husband, of course. Most mornings, I write in my ‘5-Minute-Journal’ while drinking a cup of coffee, too, as a way to jump-start my day.
If you could take one person with you anywhere, who would you take, and where would you go?
I’d take my husband to Paris. This fall, we’re touring the UK with Darius Rucker, and I’m currently trying to figure out a way we can fit Paris in.
What accounts do you follow for personal inspiration?
One of my favorite accounts to follow is @geoffreywalk. He’s a precious Brit who documents his garden and life with his wife. His Valentine’s post this year said they were celebrating their 68th year together. They are #goals.
What message do you want to convey to your followers?
I want people to know that hope and love are real and worth fighting for!
When collaborating with brands in your posts, what do you look for?
I’ve only worked with a few different brands, because I really want to love and use the products I post about. I want my social media to be as authentic as possible, and my followers should be able to trust my endorsement. I never want them to wonder if I like a product or if I’m just being paid to say so.
How do you think social media can elevate humanity?
Whenever I encounter a tragedy, personally or in the country music community, I use social media to connect with people. In those moments I try to give hope to the hurting and it helps heal me.
What do you consider to be the biggest challenge content creators face?
I think the biggest challenge content creators currently face is authenticity. In my opinion, ads can threaten your brand by damaging your audience’s trust in you. I value my followers trust over everything, because that’s what’s allowed my community to be as big as it is. No one wants to follow a page full of advertisements. That’s just empty content.
Do you have any apps that help you manage your life?
LOL. If I ever figure out how to manage my crazy life, you’ll be the first to know how I did it. My life changes so much day to day that it’s really hard to find a rhythm sometimes. I’m all about being flexible and rolling with the waves.
Google Calendar is my best chance at staying on top of things. If it’s not on the calendar, I promise I’ll forget about it! I set recurring alerts on everyone’s birthdays because I rarely know what day of the week it is, let alone the date, and I hate missing people’s birthdays.
Tell us something about you that your followers might find surprising.
I am the youngest of 6 kids, and the only girl. I grew up in a conversion van most of the time because my brother played soccer at a very high level, and we would travel the country with his team. That was always an adventure with a family of my size! Now, I spend my weekends in a tour bus with my husband and the band… still the only girl. Some things never change!
