Faena Announces 2023 Art Installation: Stone-Cast Tech Moguls + Beachside AI
Faena Art, is set to transcend expectations with its curated programming for Miami Art Week 2023, eloquently titled “Spaces of Influence: Shaping Community in the Modern World.”
This exhibition elegantly melds the works of globally celebrated artists Sebastian Errazuriz and Kelly Breez, delving into profound contemplations on community, individuality, the dance between modern technology and age-old traditions, and the interplay of power dynamics.
The pièce de résistance of Errazuriz’s oeuvre is the meticulously crafted MAZE: Journey Through the Algorithmic Self. Positioned gracefully at Faena Beach, this site-specific creation takes the form of an intricate labyrinth, beckoning patrons to ponder the pervasive role of artificial intelligence in contemporary society. The pathways, sketched with precision by renowned AI platforms Midjourney and DALLE2, lead to a captivating monolith center—a dual-purpose symbol of artistry and a nexus for elite performances and elite interactions throughout Miami Art Week.
Errazuriz’s artistic prowess further graces the Faena Hotel Cathedral with his sublime marble sculpture, “Battle of the Corporate Nations.” This intriguing piece immortalizes tech luminaries Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos in a tableau reminiscent of the grandeur evoked by Italian Renaissance maestros.
In a homage to Miami’s distinctive charisma, Kelly Breez has meticulously designed an enveloping experience titled ‘Dirt’s Dive’ in the revered Faena Art Project Room. This immersive sanctum is an exquisite nod to the city’s effervescent social tapestry, melding reality with whimsy, showcasing bars as enduring bastions of community and personal expression.
Alan Faena extols, “It brings us immense pride to curate ‘Spaces of Influence’ for this year’s Miami Art Week, uniting visionaries who intricately weave tales of our evolving societal tapestry. We warmly extend an invitation to aficionados to immerse themselves in these artful narrations, prompting introspection on cultivating resilient communities for our future.”
Debuting on December 5, 2023, and gracing the art scene until March 30, 2024, this exhibition promises more than static displays. Faena Art has orchestrated a series of elite events and performances during Miami Art Week. Those seeking further enlightenment can peruse the Faena Art website for details.
