Duong Le Thai was born in 1962 in Saigon, Vietnam and eventually moved to Paris where he currently resides.

Aside from being an artist, Duong has a day job, he is an orthopedic surgeon, working on the human body everyday, shaping and modeling its most intimate reality, which affords him with an inside perspective on it.

Through his sculptures, he endeavors to communicate this same emotion, because, in the end, when you think about it, carving a bone and sculpting artistic matter hold many similarities.

The flesh is thus transfigured to give place to more lightness, to void, in order to embody what is the least tangible: its spirit…
