Member Spotlight: Woody Kassin of Faucet Face
How did you get started?
I have been involved in business for over 20 years; after my company was acquired (a vitamin and supplement company), I was looking for another entrepreneurial opportunity, and purchased Faucet Face in 2013.
What has been the most challenging moment in your career?
Leaving a lucrative position in the financial services industry and relocating to the West Coast to attend graduate school was difficult; although I was following my dreams, the dislocation and transition was a difficult process which took some time to adjust to.
What was the most braggable moment?
Having our company (Alan James Group) be acquired by Nutraceutical Corp., a leader in the industry, was the culmination of a 6 year process in which we built the company from scratch and achieved a liquidity event.
What would you say is your biggest weakness?
Impatience can be a challenge to say the least…
And your greatest strength?
My skill set is pretty broad from finance and operations to sales, marketing and product development. I’m able to relate and get along with pretty much anyone.
What was the greatest lesson you’ve learned from a mistake?
Don’t wait too long to make a change, look at the situation, consider it, think it over, and pull the trigger.
What do you love most about what you do?
Every day is different, and as an entrepreneur and the sole owner of my business, I can make the decisions without any bureaucracy.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Do what you love, and don’t let money drive your decisions.
How do you define happiness?
Enjoying what you do every day. Financial rewards may come, but in and of itself, money is not a motivating factor.
What book are you currently reading?
#AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneur’s Take on Leadership, Social Media, and Self-Awareness
What’s a personal habit that you believe contributes to your success?
I am very diligent, and don’t give up very easily (if ever).
Have you collaborated with another business/artist in the past? (if yes tell us how it benefited you, if no tell us how you would like to).
All of our designs are commissioned with leading graphic designers, I work directly with the artists from the conceptual phase to final work product. We are always looking to work with talented artists as we grow our portfolio.
