Tell us about Rebel Time?
Rebel Time Co is a Brooklyn bred watch company that puts a strong focus on the design and craftsmanship of every detail our watches. Our leather straps are made in Brooklyn.
How did you get started?
Close to 2 years ago I was on a family vacation for the holidays and had a discussion with my brother about the idea of starting a watch company. At the time I was in the financial industry but that did not satisfy my creative drive. I always appreciated fashion and jewelry and he had experience with e-commerce and product logistics.
6 months later while still keeping my financial job, my brother and I completed the design phase and produced several prototypes. We launched a successful kickstarter campaign which made Rebel Time no longer an idea, it now was a reality.
What has been the most challenging moment in your career?
Every day in business has its challenges, I have learned to trust my instincts and not second guess myself.
What was the most braggable moment?
I think our product speaks for itself
What would you say is your biggest weakness?
With so many mechanical parts to a business, not getting caught up in all the little things is something I struggle with.
And your greatest strength?
I was brought up to believe that with hard work and dedication you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. I work hard and think outside the box.
What was the greatest lesson you’ve learned from a mistake?
To be patient and not rush anything that’s not 100% ready to go, because that can lead to a short term gain yet a long term loss.
What do you love most about what you do?
The creative aspect, Designing something from the bottom up and watching it transform from a vision to a reality.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Seeing ever challenge like I am just being tested, this makes me not stop and know that I can overcome anything.
How do you define happiness?
To me happiness is doing what I love every day, to wake up with a smile and go to bed with a smile.
What book are you currently reading?
The Jewish Century by Yuri Slezkine
What’s a personal habit that you believe contributes to your success?
The first thing I do when I wake up is make my bed, its something I learned when I was in the military, when your first action of the day is an accomplishment it sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Have you collaborated with another business/artist in the past?
No not yet, we are a new company and have not yet had the opportunity but would love to collaborate with a clothing line to create a line of watches to match they’re collection.
