Can Wellness Heal Miami’s Real Estate Market?
While sales have slowed down, there has been lots of speculation about the market. Are we heading towards another crash or will the market just adjust a little?
Some developers have pulled out of projects while others are still betting high on Miami. We’ve seen developers partner with brand names like Fendi, Armani, Porsche and now even Aston Martin just announced they’re partnering with a developer to build their first residences here in South Florida.
While the buzz is all over the glitz and glamour, quietly a conscious community of wellness minded people is rapidly growing and developers are noticing that.
Healthier lifestyle choices are expanding, new business such as Dr Smood, Plant Food and Wine, The Sacred Space and the newest kid on the block Paradigm Kitchen, an organic plant focused restaurant by Matthew Sherman who brought us Jugo Fresh.
What about a wellness hotel? Hmm, maybe. Wellness condos? This is Miami not California. However, developers and investors are definitely not turning a blind eye and are starting to bet on this growing market and bringing more options for wellness minded travelers and residents.
Welcome EVEN Hotels and Elysee Miami, 2 different projects, 2 different developers, 1 thing in common.
EVEN Hotels, the newest lifestyle hotel from the InterContinental Hotels Group has broken ground in the city of Miami. A unique hotel brand designed to help travelers Eat Well, Rest Easy, Keep Active and Accomplish More, EVEN Hotels will now offer wellness-minded travelers more options to maintain their wellness routine while away from home.
The $33 million, 190-room EVEN Hotel Miami Airport is the brand’s first signing in the southeastern United States. The hotel will be led by a wellness-savvy staff and feature a best-in-class fitness experience, healthier food choices and natural, relaxing spaces adjacent to the Miami International Airport.
Elysee Miami’s will be a 57 story condo tower and will feature 100 condo units that will feature purified air, non-toxic paint, circadian lighting, various levels of water filtration — for laundry, bathing and drinking, air purification, aromatherapy, aromatherapeutic shower diffusers in the spa that deliver Vitamin C and collagen, eco-friendly paint and LED circadian lighting.
The aromatherapy diffusers in the air conditioning system will use organic oils that are grown on a farm in Iowa that Wellness Habitat owns in a joint venture, he said. The scents will vary from more “motivating” tones during the day, like citrus, to relaxing scents like lavender at night.
In addition, the paint, primer and glue used for wallpaper in both the common areas and units will be non-toxic. Paint is one of the most dangerous things, because with the switching of temperatures, when it gets hot and cold, the drywall breathes and its spits out toxins that come from paint.
The lighting in the common areas will be geared to work with the circadian rhythm, to dim and rise at certain times, “so as not to have a shock from the inside to the outside.
